Sept 2011 - This adventure was a riot, laughing from beginning to end. 4x4'ing thru the rain forest with Juan Carlos as our VERY entertaining guide! I learned a lot about Mexican culture and the rainforest from a guy that obviously loves his country. Would advise anyone to take this adventure or any other that interests them thru Vallarta Adventures - we tried 3 while in PV and thoroughly enjoyed all of them.

Juan Carlos is the best, enough said. This trip was a blast, so jam packed with information and sights, definitely a day we'll always remember. Thanks again Juan Carlos for such a hilarious commentary and amazing tour!

Had an amazing time on the Offroad Adventure with our guide MaryLou. We really weren't sure what to expect, since this was our first excursion and first trip to Puerto Vallarta. It was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a day full of diverse experiences. It was the perfect way to kick off our stay.

We recently did the Off Road Adventure tour with Carlos ("Chore") and Salvador ("Chava") as our tour guides, Daniela ("Dani") our photographer and Jose Luis ("Jimmy") as our driver. All I can say is that this is one of the funnest tours I have ever been to. The knowledge that the tour guides shared with us is amazing, not just about the culture of Mexico but also the local traditions (yes, how to properly roll a tortilla). The tour itself was a lot of fun, but when it came to history and the environment, our tour guides were very serious and knew a lot about it. There wasn't a question that they could not answer, and even if they did not know the answer, they went out of their way to get the answer. Dani took some awesome pictures and Jimmy made sure that our ride was a smooth one (even through rugged terrains). At the end of the tour there is a surprise which I don't want to spoil for people but rest assured that you will like it and you will never forget that moment. Thank you Vallarta Adventures, for making such tours a wonderful experience and rest assure that we will be doing more tours with you and will definitely recommend you to others.

We went May 13th 2011 Carlos was our tour guide and Alfonzo was our driver. We had soo much fun I'd recommend this tour to anyone who is in the area. Carlos was an amazing tour guide and very knowledgeable about the culture and history of the areas we visited. Next time we are here I would definitely return to the Offroad Adventure!

We had a group of 6, and could not have had a better time. Our driver was Carlitos and our tour guide was Carlos. What a great combination, but Carlos was definetly outstanding as a guide and an expert in the Mexican culture. What an amazing experience. Please forward this to Carlos Villantare-Gonzales, I would love to keep in contact with him.

On February 24, 2011 we had the pleasure of taking in the Sierra Madre South offroad adventure. Our expert and most entertaining guide was Juan Carlos and our quiet but equally expert and caring driver was "Jimmy". This was our fourth visit to Puerto Vallarta and our fourth Sierra Madre excursion, so we've obviously enjoyed these day trips a great deal. Starting with a quick boat ride acrosss the bay rather than having us endure a slow ride through the downtown was great and added a lot to the tour. Juan Carlos was absolutely terrific! He conveyed a great deal of information regarding the flora and fauna of the region, the history of Mexico and the social aspects of life in the area. Juan Carlos patiently and effectively responded to all questions posed to him. Although we had a lot of fun, we also learned a lot in the process. Many thanks to Vallarta Adventures for recruiting top-notch people like Juan Carlos and "Jimmy" and for continuing to enhance your tours. We definitely recommend you highly!

We absolutely enjoyed this excursion. Wish it never ended! I want to do it again! I also want MaryLou and Poncho as my guides! I would do it again in a heart beat!

Excellent tour. Very interesting and discovered a lot about the culture and history of Mexico. Our Guide Sandra was awesome and Big Daddy our driver was great as well. If you can only take in one tour during your stay this should be at the top of the list.

Offroad Adventure was our first tour while visiting Puerto Vallarta. It is a great, and unique, way to experience Mexican culture and history. Juan Carlos is a fantastic guide, full of knowledge and energy. If you haven´t been to Puerto Vallarta before, or just want to experience something different, Offroad Adventure is a must do tour for everyone.

We did the Off Road Adventure with several good friends in early December. Juan Carlos was hysterical, in addition to being a well-informed & effective teacher, and I particularly liked ending our day at Sayulita for lunch. The treats along the way were tasty too. What a great way to spend a day in the PV area. (Oh, and you needn't bother with showering before you go, as you'll definitely need one when you return.) Last year we enjoyed the Las Caletas trip, and maybe next year we'll try the challenging Canopy Adventure.

We took what is called the Eco-safari trip (from Holland America). We have taken many shore excursions in Puerto Vallarta, most of which have been a bust, but this time I was with someone new who wanted to try this trip, so I gave it one last whirl. It turned out to be one of the top two shore excursions I have ever done in my life (the other was in Europe!). MaryLou was our guide and she was fantastic. She knew so much information about Mexico- tequila, history, corn tortillas! Who knew all that would be so interesting. The hike was beautiful and informative, the town and history was really fascinating and the visit to the home of a woman who made tortillas for us was great - delicious snacks. The story about tequila was interesting too and I even tried it - I am not much of a drinker, but couldn't resist after the great story! Thanks again to MaryLou. She is the best. I want to clone her for all my tours!

We went on the Sierra Madre Expedition in the last week of June 2010. It was an absolute honor to have met our guide, Cesar. He was amazingly knowledgeable, energetic and enthusiastic. I have regrettably forgotten the name of our driver. As a team, he and Cesar had impeccable timing for sight seeing and educational opportunities as well as a million laughs. They even made a traffic delay for construction a delightfully memorable experience. No question went unanswered, no detail went unnoticed. We have and will continue to recommend this tour (as well as Cesar) to anyone traveling in the area and I suspect we may take this tour every time we're back in Nayarit. You never know what you’ll see next!

We took the Sierra Madre excursion on Nov 22, 2010. Our tour guide Cesar made a great adventure into an AWESOME one! Cesar's knowledge about history, culture, forestry and many other things made out trip riveting. We would go back in a heart beat. Our sincere appreciation.

We took the Sierra Madre South tour with Jaun Carlos as our guide. His knowledge of natural and cultural history is excellent. His ability to communicate and provide perceptions of this information is amazing. The driver does an incredible job of manuevering such a large and awkward vehicle thru narrow streets and rough roads - a very comfortable ride given the circumstance. It was an educational and fun experience that rates high on our list and we did not hesitate to recommend it to others - a great way to see some "off the main road" parts of a beautiful area.

My husband and I LOVED our Sierra Madre Adventure on October 21, 2010. We can't find the words to express how amazing our tour and tourguide Cesar was (I believe that our driver was Juan Carlos, and he took us on the funnest off-road drive ever!!) Our day in the mountains was the cherry on the cake of our entire trip to PV, and we have been gushing about it to friends and family every chance we get because it was so much fun. We would recommend this trip to everyone, young or old as it gives you a chance to catch a glimpse what the 'real Mexico' is about - not just the beach outside your resort. Never in my life did I imagine that I would eat a hibiscus flower, prickly pear cactus and sweet lime on a mountain farm (the handmade tortilla’s were amazing – best tacos we’ve ever had) all in the same day in the middle of Mexico! Cesar - your sense of humor had us in stitches from start to finish. Your love for your country, nature and for what you do was absolutely infectious and we are so happy that we had you to show us around! If you're ever planning to visit Calgary, you let us know because we would be honored to show you around our neck of the woods and take you to the Rockies. Oh, and before I forget... thanks for the tequila! I guess that means we owe you a beer, right? :-)

Just wanted to let you know we had a fantastic time last Wednesday (Sept. 1, 2010) on our Sierra Madre's trip with Gibram. Despite both of us suffering a little Montezuma's revenge, we both agreed it was one of the most memorable days of our lives. Gibram's knowledge of both the flora and history of Mexico was impressive. He was both entertaining and very informative. We would highly recommend both Gibram and the trip to anyone interested in a diversified cultural experience. And the tequila was terrific!!!! Thanks Gibram.

My daughter and I went on the Sierra Madra Expedition on July 28/2010. The tour was absolutely fantastic and loaded with lots of fun all day long. Cannot say enough good things about the knowledge and pride that Cesar and Pedro have and shared the entire expedition with us. Very warm, personable and a ton of fun they both were as well. It was a trip that will remain in our memories for many years to come! Cesar and Pedro...if you ever have a whim to travel to our beautiful shorelines of the Sunshine Coast in B.C , please look us up! We would be more than happy to reciprocate the hospitality and knowledge you shared so abundantly!

My girlfriend and I did the Sierra Madre tour on August 17th 2010. Cesar was our guide, Big Daddy was our driver. This day was definitely one of the biggest highlights of our week in PV. It was equally informative and entertaining. Cesar was an awesome guide, he was very entertaining! The homemade tacos at the mountain farm were amazing, both in the way the people live and the tacos themselves. We definitely recommend this tour to anyone!

We were there July 2010. Extremely cool day! Highly recommended! Our guide Juan Carlos truly loves his country and is able to give it back to us. He is extremely generous, knowledgeable and to top it all, fun! Really, this was a rich experience – the ride in the jeep (more comfortable then we expected), a small village in the Sierra Madre (real people!), a farm where we tasted wonderful food (I bought a tortilla making machine when I came back, to make my own fresh tortilla), a trek in the jungle (but too short! This part could be longer!) where Juan Carlos showed us many things we would have missed if we would have been there alone, and then a short stop for lunch at a beach where the water is amazing. Juan Carlos, if you ever come to Montreal, contact us, we’ll show you around! Joël & Marie-Hélène

If your looking for a fun excursion or want to venture away from the tourtisty area this is it. This day included such a variety of things to do and see there was never a dull moment. Our family learned so much about Mexican way of life thanks to our wonderful guide Cesar. He made this tour one of the highlights of our trip. We enjoyed the other family we were with from Austin TX. We would recommend it for kids and adults. Thanks again Cesar!!

Wow! what an experience and the highlight of our trip. We took your adventure trip on the 16th June, 2010 with Cesar as our guide and he was great - knowledgeable, entertaining and fun! Keep up the good work

This was our second year visiting PV and our 6th tour with Vallarta Adventures. This tour, as well as all the others, was amazing and a good value for the buck. It lasted ALL day, with all the info, food and drink you can take in. You will never see this stuff on your own and will remember for a lifetime. Totally advize anyone to take this tour and any others they offer. Do the 3 tours for the price of 2 if you can - really a great value and by no means cheezy tourist gimmick fluff!!!! We will be doing the Calentas day tour, Sunset Wine Cruise and the Zip Line this year - Cant Wait!!!!! Also - these guys are professionals and very entertaining
Chris and Alex
This trip is fantastic - don't miss it. Our guide - Juan Carlos - was a lot of fun, tremendous knowledge of the area, history, and the people of Mexico.

Just wanted to tell you how much my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the Sierra Madre tour, which we took on January 27, 2010. Our guide was Marlous, and she was over-the-top exceptional! Her enthusiasm, passion, humor and energy are unsurpassed! Please tell her to keep up the great work! Sign me "the Chihuahua lady"...she'll know who that is!

"My wife and I took the Sierra Madre tour last Friday. We wanted to see something of the real Mexico environment and this tour certainly delivered. The open sided trucks added to the atmosphere and enjoyment. But above all, it was our tour guide Manuel who made the day. He had a mass of information to impart, which he did with humour and sincere pleasure. He and his other colleagues made the day one of the best experiences we have had on a vacation for a very long time. This tour is a must for anybody wanting to get behind the normal touristic facade. Well done, Guys."
Tony Higgs
"Special thanks to our incredibly awesome tour guide, Cesar, and our careful driver Pedro for a wonderful journey. The BBQ was awesome too. Cesar, thanks for teaching us the "Mexican custom" of doing Tequila shots (toss that cap - we won't need this anymore). We also have that custom in Alberta! Thanks for our unforgettable day - we will carry the memories with us for a lifetime. We wish you all the best! See you all next year!!"

"We were on the Sierra Madre Expedition with Sandra. Our group was relatively small that day at only eight people. None of us knew each other before the tour, but by the end we all felt like family. My husband and I have been on several cruises and we always book our excursions through the ship. We have been on some good tours and some outstanding tours. We’ve found that the ones that truly stand out in our memories are the ones that have been led by wonderful guides. This tour was outstanding and it had everything to do with Sandra. She made a point of getting to know all of us and made sure that we all knew each other by name, as well. One of the women on the tour was partially vision-impaired. Sandra was so kind to her and took the extra care to make sure she was able to experience the entire hike. She was knowledgeable about the area and willing to talk about all aspects of the country. Sandra’s enthusiasm for her new home of Puerto Vallarta was evident. Thank you again!"

"Greetings from Canada. I was searching your site looking for a place to add our comments and this seems to be it. We took the Sierra Madre Expedition two weeks ago with Juan Carlos and it was the highlight of our vacation. He is a phomemenal guide - a natural and really a people person. I laughed so much my mouth hurt. The tour was awesome and very informative and educational. It clearly helped that the whole gang on our jeep connected yet JC had a lot to do with that. Your company is very blessed to have such a remarkable man. Kudos also to the driver Tito in his quiet caring way was very professional. Our family included our children and grandparents so we were ages 11- 74 and everyone was smitten. I recommend it for everyone ask for JC. PS: Congratulations on your commitment to the environment."

This is the 2nd time we take this tour... and for sure there will be a 3rd!!! The guides are really something else!!!

It was a great all-around day. All of the staff was very good, friendly and nice to talk at. But, the best part is that I get to know how people in the Mexico sierra really lives.

We are a family from Canada, first time to Mexico, with two boys 11 and 14, parents and grandparents. We decided to take the Sierra Madre adventure. By great fortune our guide was Juan Carlos and the trip was an adventure of a life time. It was informative, educational and an amazing lot of fun. As a guide JC is knowledgable and one of those type of people you meet once in a lifetime. His many gifts included having our whole :jeep: connect and be extremely comfortable together. I laughed so much my mouth hurt. It is just a great adventure and you also see the country. Any trip that can entertain from 11 to 17 has to be worthwhile. And the company's commitment to the environment was admirable. Enjoy!

We just had write to tell you how much fun we had on the Jeep Safari with Vallarta Adventures. It was absolutely the most fun we had on our trip. Our tour guide, Jesus, was amazing and so much fun to be with! He has an obvious love for his country, and the passion and enthusiasm with which he communicated it was just awesome. We will come back and do it all over again next year and check out more Vallarta Adventure tours also.
